You hold the keys to your own renewal and healing.
And we can help you in your journey.
By focusing on movement and breath, you leave your stress behind. When you step off the mat, you'll take this knowledge with you.
2025 was my last year for teaching group classes, however I’m still teaching private sessions in my home studio. Reach out on the “contact” page for more info!
Class Descriptions
Group Yoga Classes
After over 20 years of teaching group classes, I'm announcing my official retirement. It has been a great run and I've enjoyed every minute of it. Many of you have been coming to my classes for a long time and it feels like family. I'm going to miss our time together, but everything has a season. And it's important to know when it's time for a new season to begin.
However, there’s still plenty of opportunities to practice together other than group classes. Consider scheduling a private session. Or try the monthly recorded classes for yoga on demand that meets your schedule.
I would love to meet you again on the mat. Until then, thank you for walking this path with me.
In gratitude,
Janet
Monthly Subscription Program
This is a great option now that I’m no longer teaching group classes. If you were accustomed to a “Janet Tant” yoga class, you’ll get the same style of teaching in these recorded classes. The beauty of the Monthly Subscription Program is that you can practice on the days and times that work for your schedule. It’s yoga on demand! With over 200 recorded classes, you’ll find that each class is different, so you’ll have lots of content to choose from. Mix and match a flow class with a moving meditation class. Whatever suits your mood. Cancel any time. View the recordings as often as you like. Content changes every 30 days.
The monthly subscription is $20/month. This subscription renews monthly but can be cancelled at any time. Register for this program at the order-on-line page. New students will be required to complete this waiver upon receipt of a new registration. Want more info? FAQ's here
Yoga Nidra
Setting aside time to rest and unplug is vital for our well-being especially in these times. Yoga Nidra is designed to help us relax deeply and completely, benefiting the body’s systems. This ancient technique is a systematic process of deep relaxation that can help remove stress and internal tension. Book a private Yoga Nidra session today and enjoy the peace and calm that comes with this ancient practice.
Restorative
Restorative yoga is a practice that reduces stress and improves health. All postures are done in a passive manner with the support of props such as blankets and bolsters. You will have the opportunity to linger quietly in these soothing and well supported postures. The power of restorative yoga lies in its ability to nurture ones own healing processes. This class may be purchased as a private session for one or two people. Please inquire.
Somatics
Somatic movement is one which is performed consciously with the intention of focusing on the internal experience of the movement rather than the external appearance or result of the movement. The word somatic means “of or relating to the living body,” and it has long been used in medical terminology. The term somatic education was coined by Thomas Hanna. Hanna used the term somatic education to describe methods of sensory-motor education that use somatic movement to improve motor control and change learned muscular patterns. Many people find somatic movement education methods to be highly effective in relieving chronic pain, improving bodily function, and recovering from common musculoskeletal conditions. My yoga therapy training included Hanna Somatics training. I personally have found this to be a very powerful movement modality. It is so subtle but by doing it on a regular basis I’ve noticed common little aches and pains that have just disappeared over time.
I offer two different trainings on Somatics.
Level One Somatics: This class teaches the Daily Somatic Movement Series as created by Thomas Hanna, the somatics pioneer. Doing this series over time will increase flexibility and ease of movement. Somatic Movement engages your brain and teaches you how to re-educate the muscles to let go of chronic tension brought about by habits, injuries or accidents. The movements are gentle, natural and remarkably effective. Because of Covid and my small studio space I’ll only be offering this as a private training.
Level Two Somatics: Level Two somatic training is for those who have completed the Level One training. In the Level Two class we will introduce a new somatic movement each week focusing on ways of hydrating and releasing facial tension. Each class will begin with the basic somatic movement series as a warm-up and then we will move on to more advanced moves. This class requires a regular practice of the Daily Somatic Movement series. Because of Covid and my small studio space I’ll only be offering this as a private training.
