January 2019 newsletter: Resolutions

It's that time of the year for New Year's resolutions.  I can remember a specific resolution from many years ago.  It was 1997. I wanted to get back to that thing called “Yoga”.  I had been introduced to it in high school. I remembered the strong connection I felt and I wanted to experience that again.  In January of 1997 I stepped back on to my mat.  Read more…https://mailchi.mp/ffb9ed767464/resolutions

Would you be interested in a Somatic Movement class?

This is my third season teaching Somatic Movement.  I’ve had quite a bit of positive feedback from the students who have completed this 6 week program.  The class teaches the Daily Somatic Movement Series as created by Thomas Hanna, the somatics pioneer.  Doing this series over time will increase flexibility and ease of movement.

I’ll be teaching the class on a Wednesday this year.  Class will begin in mid-January and is taught in my Mt. Lebanon home studio. If you think you would be interested or would just like more information please email me at janet@janettantyoga.com.

For more information on Somatics please refer to the “CLASSES” page on this site.

The Yoga Nidra class on November 17 is full.  I’m still accepting names for the waitlist.  Look for another Nidra class to be offered in January.

New location for Monday Evening Yoga Class

I have good news.  I’ve found a new location for the Monday evening yoga class. So hoorah!  You no longer need to make a reservation for class.  There is plenty of room in this new space for everyone.

The new location is: Mt. Lebanon Christian Church, 367 Cedar Blvd, Mt. Lebanon, PA   15228.  The church is located on the corner of Hollycrest Drive and Cedar Blvd.  Please note that Hollycrest is a one way street. Class will meet next Monday, October 8 and run through December 10, 2018.  There will be no class on November 5.

The entrance to our yoga space is on the side of the building.  There’s a banner that says Hillside Community School.  That is where you enter.  Go down the few steps to the door that goes right into the room where we will be practicing.

Street parking is permissible and is available on Hollycrest or Cedar Blvd. There is also a small parking lot off of Hollycrest, behind the church if you don’t want to park on the street.

Class will be the same time as always…7-8:15 pm.  Everything will remain the same with class prices and class cards.

I’m excited to be back in Pittsburgh with all of my classes returning the week of September 17.  Monday evening classes in my home studio are by reservation only.  Please email me if you are interested.  The Tuesday and Friday afternoon classes at the Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center are available as session or walk –in classes.  Do you know someone that might benefit from one on one yoga therapy sessions?  As a yoga therapist I offer a specifically designed program tailored to the individual that will address the person as they are, given their condition and current constraints. Feel free to contact me for more information.

Summer Schedule
Summer-Hours.jpg

I’m off to New England for the summer; however, there’s great news. Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center will be offering the afternoon yoga classes beginning June 1st. Cindi Ballard will be teaching both Moving Meditation (12-1pm) and Vinyasa Afternoon Yoga (1:15-2:30pm) on Fridays only.

Cindi is an accomplished practitioner who has been teaching yoga for many years and was my teacher 15 years ago! Don’t miss this opportunity to study with Cindi and keep your practice going through the summer. Look for my classes to resume in mid-September.
